Mr. M vs Perry
29th-Dec-2011 02:23 pm
No surprise at the result. If any more evidence was needed that Perry is a fool, it was provided by this response to a question in Iowa today. The question was asked by my very own spouse:

Lawrence v Texas was an important case, and Perry had no clue what it was about, even though it was decided when he was governor.

Mr. M has been spending some of his school break visiting with various Republican candidates, and after Perry's response, he announced that, based on his observations, social conservatives who want to go with the smartest option should pick Santorum. 'Nuff said.

Mr. M himself will not have to decide among the Republicans, as he's agreed to be a precinct leader at the Democratic caucus. (Yes, the Dems are also caucusing, but the lack of competition is keeping us out of the news. Some OWS voters may plump for "none of the above," but that's likely the most excitement we'll have.)

*headdesk* Anyone who claims to have a stance on the issue of gay marriage, or the repeal of DADT, or ANYTHING like that, NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT LAWRENCE V. TEXAS. Perry's response doesn't even make sense! If he wanted to sound intelligent, he could have asked Mr. M to remind him what the court case was about. Then, he could have ACTUALLY ADDRESSED THE QUESTION.

I just...I can't even. *flails*

To make things even more bizarre, we just got robo-called by the National Organization for Marriage. Since we've both donated and worked for One Iowa, their sworn enemy, they've definitely got the wrong number.

Just to show you how on holiday my brane is, I thought you meant Perry Mason.
29th-Dec-2011 09:03 pm (UTC)
Nah. Mason had brainz. I think a zombie ate this Perry's.

I don't know why I'm so disgusted right now. Ugh. Every Republican candidate makes me ill to my stomach.

It's been mildly amusing watching them on their "Anyone but Mitt" quest, but it has been scary too.

"points to icon"

The only bright spot is that he appears to be too stupid to win, even for the people who nominated GWB.

Perry is an even bigger idiot on the national stage than he is on the state stage. Is this allowed?

What does Mr. M think of Romney?
29th-Dec-2011 10:41 pm (UTC)
He hasn't met Romney personally, but he's not a fan. His rec was based on his evaluation of the three main social conservatives, Perry, Santorum and Bachmann, all of whom he has had the dubious honor of seeing in the flesh.

wow..just wow. I cant see how he was ever elected to any office much less governor.
It's mindblowing actually.

Even more mindblowing is that Santorum is now using Perry's gaffe to promote his own candidacy.

Three cheers for Mr. M. The GOP hopefuls make me want to go back to bed and pull the pillow over my head.

I thought they had a pathetic lineup last cycle, but this crowd makes those look like Rhodes scholars.

Ahahaha! Ahahahah!

30th-Dec-2011 10:02 pm (UTC)
I do hope you mean Mr M. and not Perry...
31st-Dec-2011 06:21 am (UTC)
Oy. Santorum is a crazed weasel.
31st-Dec-2011 05:50 pm (UTC)
Yep. But according to Mr. M, who has had the patience to go to Bachmann, Perry, and Santorum events, he's the smartest one. Also charming, if you can get past his being a whining homophobe who thinks being the object of a silly online joke is worse treatment than his wanting to take away other people's rights, split up their families, and decide what women should do with their bodies.

He blathers for a good minute while trying to remember what it was, doesn't he? It must have tickled a braincell somewhere. Then he gives up, and hits the auto button.

Mr M appears to be suffering in a good cause.

I also liked the way that he seemed to be arguing that the Supreme Court spends too much money. Since they're the only branch of government with no budget other than what it costs to run their building and the staff nine justices need, that's pretty remarkable.
